More light

I am currently taking online lessions at the Strobist website after having ordered some light stands, reflectors and additional flashes.

Lighting 101
Intimidated by the idea of off-camera lighting?
Don’t be.
We are pretty much starting from scratch, so no worries. The first posts will be about what kind of gear you will need to do the minimalist strobe thing.

It seems that my previous “available light philosophy” was more or less an excuse of learning how to deal with current technology. It turns out as a great experience with an immediate payoff. Nikons CLS with the D-80 built-in commander and two remote SB-600 is an excellent system for a small studio. Camera control from the Mac also works but is not very convenient – the Nikon service promised to give a better access to the flash control settings that is now deeply hidden in the menu system.
Indoor remote communication between flashes is excellent in the 10 m range ad +30 degree range while I am keen to try it also outdoors where I expect that some extra Pocket Wizards will be necessary.
