Less than 12 days to go
I have been thinking rather long what to do with the extra Christmas money – and here is my choice.
These are two Kickstarter projects: The first one is from South Africa, a project on Bicycle Portraits but even more important a project by SF photographer Raul Guerrero, The Disposable Project in Tanzania ( we in Gröbenzell already have some good connections to Matema in Tanzania ).

Last May, Raul was a volunteer at a preparatory school for kids called Born To Learn in the Newlands area of Moshi. This program was set up in order to give children in low income situations the opportunity to have a temporary general education, while they potentially get sponsored financially to attend an established school. Raul writes
Through an effective education system, the people of an impoverished country can develop skills to break the cycle of destitution and ultimately improve the economy. The educational system in Tanzania is far from ideal. At the same time, having an empowered mentality is just as important as the education system itself. Photography can be just the tool needed to empower children at a young age.
Raul kindly provided two photos for this blog and wrote that he would love to do this project also in another country.
It was a wonderful experience and I can only imagine how much it would mean to other communities around the world.
I am always intrigued by the way how children see the world and the photos they take. So finally, here is a link and an explanation how to make a donation at Kickstarter for The Disposable Projet.
