Duty to recontact you

A new paper in PLoS Biology highlights the duty to recontact you for whole-genome research on any stored sample

Given the numerous disciplines and health care providers potentially involved in whole-genome research, further analysis of the legal and ethical obligations of each (particularly in the context of return of results) seems warranted.

That’ s fine, however, there are more critical points in this paper that we will address in a more formal way. There is some inherent problem of these consensus statements where I always think about the famous “white coat” article in BMJ

Last but not least is the risk that a set of statements drawn up and provisionally shared by a panel of experts (guidelines) can assume the status of a Papal edict (official dogma), thereby retarding or impeding the potential for innovation.
