A catholic view of science

Following the protestantic view of science here are some thoughts that I found in the new book by Benedetto XVI aka Joseph Ratzinger “Jesus von Nazareth”. Rationality as divine gift? Yes, Benedict follows the Historical Critical Method but wants to reconcile it with revelation that is not accessible to logical arguments. While it is not a book on science it gives an insight what the pope thinks about science. In his own words, p. 66, while attacking experimentalists:

This adds to my conviction, that studies at the interface of the “visible” and “invisible” world, beyond what I described with the immersion solution, are useless at best – by today I count exactly 222 studies including “prayer” and “randomized clinical trial”. Psalm 2 says “He that is sitting above the skies will laugh” or “He Who dwells in Heaven laughs; the Lord mocks them“.
