But the technology is improving at a breathtaking pace. Experts predict that deepfakes will be indistinguishable from real images before long. \u201cIn January 2019, deep fakes were buggy and flickery,\u201d\u00a0said<\/a>\u00a0Hany Farid, a UC Berkeley professor and deepfake expert. \u201cNine months later, I\u2019ve never seen anything like how fast they\u2019re going.
