There are now 1,289 &#8220;association signals&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41586-024-07019-6\">in a new study<\/a> while in another study published back to back in Nature <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41586-023-06957-x\">1 billion new genetic variants<\/a> are being described that have not been included in the 1289 or 08-15 analysis.<br \/>\nWhat is the purpose of\u00a0 counting grains of sand?<br \/>\nAnd why introducing a new concept of race as noted also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/d41586-024-00568-w\">by others<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">27 Feb 2024<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Another reaction by <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Michael Eisen<\/span> and Ewan Birney<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The problem, critics said, is that UMAP creates blobs that look distinct while masking the inherent messiness in the data. \u201cThe fact that they are distinct is an artefact\/feature of UMAP,\u201d Ewan Birney, director of the European Bioinformatics Institute, wrote in a long thread<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>and by <a href=\"https:\/\/liorpachter.wordpress.com\/2024\/02\/26\/all-of-us-failed\/\">Lior Pachter<\/a> who has an analysis way beyond the outrage<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We begin with the figure legend, which lists Race, Ethnicity and Ancestry.
