{"id":4056,"date":"2010-02-01T14:22:20","date_gmt":"2010-02-01T12:22:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wjst.de\/blog\/?p=4056"},"modified":"2016-11-12T17:11:37","modified_gmt":"2016-11-12T16:11:37","slug":"collison-forces-during-distance-running","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wjst.de\/blog\/sciencesurf\/2010\/02\/collison-forces-during-distance-running\/","title":{"rendered":"Collison forces during distance running"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Finally, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nature.com\/nature\/journal\/v463\/n7280\/abs\/nature08723.html\">a really important paper<\/a> (at least for me ;-)<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Here we show that habitually barefoot endurance runners often land on the fore-foot (fore-foot strike) before bringing down the heel, but they sometimes land with a flat foot (mid-foot strike) or, less often, on the heel (rear-foot strike).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The forefoot has lower collision forces! while the forces are excessive according to an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pmrjournal.org\/article\/S1934-1482(09)01367-7\/fulltext\">earlier study<\/a>. These new studies support the recent development of a running shoes (currently <a href=\"http:\/\/idw-online.de\/pages\/de\/news294802\">under development in Magdeburg<\/a>) with no heel<!--more--> &#8211; a longer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spiegel.de\/wissenschaft\/medizin\/0,1518,670241,00.html\">tradition<\/a> here (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.marathonis-lauftipp.de\/Lauf_Storys.html\">Eugen Br&uuml;tting<\/a> in 60ies and also Hegall Vollert in the 80ies). Some of the B&uuml;ttings <a href=\"http:\/\/www.manufactum.de\/Produkt\/0\/1404187\/BruettingMarathon.html?suchbegriff=br%FCtting\">can still be bought<\/a> but I haven&#8217;t tested them so far.
