As I have also given several lectures on that\u00a0topic, I was excited\u00a0what the authors think&#8230;<br \/>\n1. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Know your audience<\/span>. This is trivial as\u00a0you never know your audience.<br \/>\n2. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Identify your message<\/span>. True and not true at the same time. True as it makes your findings more evident &#8211; not true if you are allowing a reader to find his own message.<br \/>\n3. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Adapt the figure to the support medium<\/span>. Trivial. May be\u00a0very time consuming.<br \/>\n4. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Captions are not optional<\/span>. Absolutely true, I also suppport good captions &#8211;\u00a0mini stories for those who can&#8217;t read the whole text.<br \/>\n5. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Do not trust the defaults<\/span>. Trivial. No one does.<br \/>\n6. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Use color efficiently.<\/span>\u00a0 Not really, \u00a0avoid colors for those of us who are colorblind and to avoid\u00a0expensive page charges.<br \/>\n7. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Do not mislead the reader.<\/span>\u00a0Why should I?<br \/>\n8. \u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Avoid Chartjunk<\/span>. Absolutely. Most frequent problem.<br \/>\n9. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Message trumps beauty<\/span>. Sure, form follows function.<br \/>\n10. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Get the right tool<\/span>.
