{"id":7412,"date":"2014-12-24T13:31:37","date_gmt":"2014-12-24T12:31:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wjst.de\/blog\/?p=7412"},"modified":"2014-12-24T14:19:52","modified_gmt":"2014-12-24T13:19:52","slug":"network-router-wireless-dhcp-nameserver","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wjst.de\/blog\/sciencesurf\/2014\/12\/network-router-wireless-dhcp-nameserver\/","title":{"rendered":"Fritz Box recycled"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I needed\u00a0to patch an unused Fritz Box with a DHCP and name server for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wjst.de\/blog\/sciencesurf\/2014\/12\/lights-on-please-any-questions-prototyping-a-new-discussion-culture\/\">a new project.<\/a>\u00a0Running these services\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wjst.de\/blog\/sciencesurf\/2014\/11\/your-own-network-running-from-a-macbook\/\">from a network server<\/a> wasn&#8217;t really stable.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/freetz.org\">freetz websites<\/a> has all the details for the patch while I can confirm that freetz version 2.0 can power a\u00a010 year old 1und1 branded Fritz Box SL WLAN (also known as 3020 type) running firmware 09.04.34.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wjst.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/x1.png\" data-rel=\"key-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7418\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wjst.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/x1.png\" alt=\"x1\" width=\"890\" height=\"365\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wjst.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/x1.png 890w, https:\/\/www.wjst.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/x1-620x254.png 620w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 890px) 100vw, 890px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I compiled everything under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wjst.de\/blog\/sciencesurf\/2014\/06\/what-to-do-with-an-old-aldi-medion-dell-inspiron-1520-laptop\/\">Ubuntu\/Luna<\/a> using the terminal<\/p>\n<pre class=\"brush: plain; title: ; notranslate\" title=\"\">\r\n#!\/bin\/bash\r\ncat \/etc\/issue\r\nuname -m\r\n# update system\r\nsudo apt-get -y update\r\nsudo apt-get -y upgrade\r\nsudo apt-get -y dist-upgrade\r\nsudo apt-get -y install imagemagick subversion gcc g++ bzip2 binutils automake patch autoconf libtool pkg-config make libncurses5-dev zlib1g-dev flex bison patch texinfo tofrodos gettext pkg-config ecj fastjar realpath perl libstring-crc32-perl ruby ruby1.8 gawk python libusb-dev unzip intltool libglib2.0-dev xz-utils git-core libacl1-dev libattr1-dev libcap-dev\r\n# do NOT run the following as root\r\ncd \/HOME\/wjst\/Desktop\r\numask 022\r\nsvn checkout http:\/\/svn.freetz.org\/branches\/freetz-stable-2.0\r\ncd freetz-2,.0\r\nmake menuconfig\r\nmake\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>The new image may then be uploaded using the standard AVM webinterfaceat \u00a0http:\/\/fritz.box .
