It claims that<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Despite the similar genetic ancestries and lifestyles of Amish and Hutterite children, the prevalence of asthma and allergic sensitization was 4 and 6 times as low in the Amish.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The first sentence is correct. There is a similar genetic ancestry. Although that doesn&#8217;t mean anything as overlapping principal component plots are derived only by frequent SNP alleles that have no major disease impact.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wjst.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/screen-2.jpg\" data-rel=\"key-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8845 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wjst.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/screen-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"594\" height=\"531\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wjst.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/screen-2.jpg 594w, https:\/\/www.wjst.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/screen-2-559x500.jpg 559w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 594px) 100vw, 594px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The second sentence is also correct &#8211; and\u00a0known for years\u00a0BUT\u00a0the implicit connection (&#8220;despite&#8221;) of both sentences is wrong. <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Propositional_calculus\">Propositional calculus<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If we go back to a <a href=\"http:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1034\/j.1399-0004.2002.610401.x\/full\">widely cited paper on population genetics<\/a> it&#8217;s clear, that there is big genetic difference between Amish and Hutterities. They have all kind of different disease.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wjst.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/screen-1.jpg\" data-rel=\"key-image-1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8844 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wjst.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/screen-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"947\" height=\"646\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wjst.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/screen-1.jpg 947w, https:\/\/www.wjst.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/screen-1-620x423.jpg 620w, https:\/\/www.wjst.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/screen-1-768x524.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.wjst.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/screen-1-733x500.jpg 733w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 947px) 100vw, 947px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We could now safely add also asthma here which means that the paper of Stein et al. is has a wrong conclusion.<\/p>\n<p>What about the reported mouse model of &#8220;experimental allergic asthma&#8221;?
