Vitamin D receptor (VDR) expression is down-regulated in OLP, but the molecular mechanism of its decrease and the related anti-in ammatory contributor of epithelial VDR signaling is unclear. Herein, we demonstrated that lipopolysaccharide (LPS) remarkedly down-regulated VDR expression of keratinocytes, and the reduced regulation was dependent on tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF\u03b1)- miR-346 pathway.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>This is \u00a0a good but never tested explanation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC1177973\/\">lower allergy rate<\/a> in Alpine farmers where high endotoxin prevents <a href=\"http:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1002\/eji.200425995\/full\">from sensitizing effects<\/a> of vitamin D supplementation of newborns. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC4849478\/\">only in vivo study<\/a> so far is a<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> retrospective<\/span> analysis of vitamin D serum levels in adults, where the combination of high endotoxin and low vitamin D was associated with current asthma.
