Dial in location reveals your position

Nicely implemented in the new mobile client of Google Maps – a reverse lookup of your current position by dial in location. As seen on my screenshot this does not always work right now but in case of failure there is now even GPS support. In combination with the powerful routing capability, this new Google Maps client version is getting for the first time a thread (Show me more…)

Liquid resize – seam carving and content aware resizing

While searching for a selective focus photoshop plugin (selective focus is impossible with the new generation of small sized digicams due to the low chip-focus distance even with open aperture) I discovered something interesting. How to get closer to the target

Attending last week another Illumina sequencer course, I still have the question how to enrich the target sequence. A colleague calling me this morning (thanks TB!) had a pointer to a new nature methods editorial covering three different methods- a 100-mer capture probe for each exon sized segment with the need of extremely deep resequencing and two other methods using direct hybridization of segments onto commercially oligo arrays. Aren´t there any other protocols?
